SAMIR ODEH TAMIMI musician, composer and painter from Jaffa, connects music methods and techniques of the Arab world with the avant-garde features of contemporary music.

The compositional feature of the Israeli composer Samir Odeh-Tamimi (Tel Aviv, 1970) intercepts a renewal of the Jewish music composition that emerges at the beginning of this new century: the younger generations of composers, especially those more sensitive to political issues, refused to limit their music based on symbolic values or traditions eviscerated in composed music, trying to go to the bone of sense and experience through sounds.

At the age of 22, Odeh-Tamimi moved to Germany, immediately striking imaginative apathy: 22 years of heated and insecure climates (raised in the psychological straits of a village of Jaffa), in which he developed musical and pictorial skills. Samir sensed that a connection network could be created between methods and executive techniques of his Arab world and the avant-garde demands of contemporary music. That which at the level of sound was within the memory of the experience could return in the form of composition, a model present in the history of compositional forms, but which Odeh-Tamimi has been able to dose by cutting off any interpretative character; it is the bare and raw music that must give you the shock, it is sound that correctly direct our emotions.

The music of Odeh-Tamimi does not have a dramatic propensity, it is pure and raw communication, it wants to perfectly document a state and uses the psychological-metaphysical side of the sounds to reach the goal.
