44th edition of Pergine Festival report

The 44th edition of Pergine Festival ends with a very positive evaluation report: 14 thousand visitors, two thousand tickets sold and several sold out shows. An edition dedicated to our community and its connections with the world which involved the local citizens in a close connection with the artists and their work, but also with the urban space and with the new visions that have been proposed.

With an audience presence which doubles up, Pergine Festival close this edition with great satisfaction.

Around 14 thousand people took part in the numerous initiatives proposed, which filled the city from June 28th to July 13th. “We are really very satisfied with the results we have achieved – says artistic director Carla Esperanza Tommasini – Seeing a large audience participation, breathing a positive atmosphere in the city, making the Festival a meeting place where artists, the local community, spectators, operators and enthusiasts find themselves, is a source of great pride. The community and its global connections were the common thread that guided the Festival and it was also what was concretely realized: this represent for the Festival the achievement of an important goal “.

In total, there were 16 events including shows, performances and installations, 3 of which were commissioned to artists selected through Open – Contemporary Urban Creation call and 3 chosen from the many emerging Italian artists who applied to the Supernova call; 9 concerts and DJ sets in Piazza Fruet of different musical genres, ranging from electronics to rock, from jazz to revival; 1 urban trekking accessible to an audience with disabilities; 7 side activities, including the fourth edition of PAG – Pergine Arte Giovane in which ten local artists under 30 were selected. To these, we add those of “Datti una mossa! Dama vivente’ tournament that saw the participation of 8 local associations for a total of more than 104 players. In addition, in the theatre show Amour by Dynamis collective, 15 local amateur actors were brought together. In Calcinculo by Babilonia Teatri, we saw the participation of about 30 chorus singers from the local Coro Castel Pergine, Coro Highlight and the Alpini group from Castagnè, as well as about 10 Pergine pet dogs accompanied by their owners.

There were about two thousand tickets sold, with several sold out. The sold out, with the presence of 400 people at the Teatro Comunale, was recorded for Elio Germano and Teho Teardo’s Journey at the End of the Night who masterfully interpreted Céline’s literary masterpiece. But also sold out were Oh, little man by the emerging director Giovanni Ortoleva, Act of adoration by the Roman director Dante Antonelli inspired by the works of Yukio Mishima and La Scimmia, Giuliana Musso‘s work in a rewrite by Franz Kafka. Great success also for urban and site-specific performances: from the urban game by Elisabetta Consonni, to the mushroom heads of Yao Liao in By Mushrooms, passing through the visionary Still Night of Berlin, Nevada duo. Well received by the critics also After / Dopo, the project by Effetto Larsen, in his debut at Palazzo Crivelli.

A very positive result for this 44th edition, an important outcome in the history of the oldest festival in Trentino which last year undertook a three-year course dedicated to community themes. A choice that now is also – thanks to the results obtained – appreciated by the audience.
